Family Safety Software is built into the new Windows® Vista™ Operating System.

Microsoft strongly recommends that you upgrade your PC to Vista. Vista provides the best protection for you, your PC and your family. Family Safety Software is built in and setup is easy, right out of the box. To learn more about the Family Safety Software in Vista, click here.

If you are using Windows XP, you can download a free web-based add-on called Windows Live Family Safety. Windows Live operates larger consumer services like Hotmail and MSN Messenger. Windows Live Family Safety additionally provides parents with the ability to manage who your children are in communication with when using Windows Live communication services (i.e. Hotmail, Messenger). The add-on provides this additional functionality also on the Windows Vista Operating System. Click here to download this free add-on.

Family Safety offers:

  • Safer browsing for your kids, with rules you personalize
  • Safer searching and learning
  • Supervise your kids’ online activities from almost any Web-connected PC.
  • Free software for every PC in your home - there are no limits to the number of PCs you can use it on
See information from the AAP on Internet Security Settings, according to your child's age. This guidance is built into Vista and Windows Live Family Safety.
